IIAN
DEFTY
The
Solway Sharks regret to announce that Ian Defty, who
had been a stalwart member of the Solway Sharks Ice
Hockey Club this season, sadly passed away in the
early hours of Saturday morning.
Ian was an
exceptional servant to the club in his short time
with the Sharks and has been a tremendous influence
in the resurgence of the team after its early season
struggles. In his career Ian, a native of County
Durham, also played British National League ice
hockey with the Dumfries Border Vikings, the
Kingston Hawks, Hull Thunder, Guildford Flames and
the Newcastle Vipers. A solid defenceman, Ian well
liked and respected throughout the game.
Our thoughts at this time are with Ian's family and
friends but we would also like to thank the
supporters of rival teams who have already expressed
their condolences to the club and to Ian's family
and friends at this sad and difficult time.
The funeral will take
place at 1pm on Friday the 11th of April at Saint
Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Meadowfield,
Langley Moor, County Durham, DH7 8JJ. |
