SHARKS FINALISE 2010/11 SQUAD
The Magnox North sponsored Solway Sharks have
confirmed the return of a number of players to this
seasons roster as well as a new face.
Callum Wallace is the new face from Dundee Stars and
he made his Sharks debut last weekend in Newcastle
at the NIHL Face-off tournament. Head Coach Martin
Grubb commented “Callum is a gritty two way forward
who likes to work the corners and does the dirty
jobs and he will skate all day for the team and this
was one of the reasons we brought him here. He is a
nuisance to the other team and his work rate will be
valuable throughout the season”.
Also returning are local favourites Struan Tonnar
and Chris Gracie and Coach Grubb expects both to
play big roles this coming season “ Struan has good
hands, speed and size and will be expected to be
contributing goals regularly and his ability to play
defence on our Powerplay will be key and I expect
him to make his mark this season. Chris is a solid
defenseman who had a great season last year and I
expect him to continue that form into that form into
this season. He is a leader and is a team player and
his winning mentality will be vital in the dressing
room”.
The Sharks also confirmed the return of Craig
McCallum, Ross Edgar, George Murray and Robert
Chalmers as well as youngster Ross Murray and the
coach is happy with the squad assembled so far “we
have a mix of youth and experience and a key thing
for us is we have a consistency as we haven’t
chopped and changed our team so everyone is familiar
with the expectations on this team. We have a good
squad and we will also use a few other youngsters at
the club and progress them to the next level and we
are confident that come the end of the year we will
be challenging to retain out titles.”
The
players mentioned above, together with the
previously announced signings, leave the squad for
the forthcoming season standing as:
Mark Gallagher, Gary
Russell, Pavol Melichercik, Juraj Senko, David Orr,
Chris Wilson, Graham McCamley, Frazer Goldie, Callum
Wallace, Struan Tonnar, Chris Gracie, Ross Edgar,
George Murray, Robert Chalmers, and Ross Murray. |
