TRAVELLING TO DUMFRIES
ICE BOWL

FROM GLASGOW
/ EDINBURGH
Follow the A74 south until junction 15, signpost for Dumfries
and Moffat. Exit the motorway here and follow signs for Dumfries
(18 miles approx). Go straight through the first roundabout (Esso
petrol station on left hand side). At the second roundabout take
the third exit (signposted to Stranraer) you are now on the A75
Dumfries Bypass. At the next roundabout take the second exit
(signposted Dumfries), the road then crosses a disused railway
and brings you to a mini roundabout outside Tesco where you
continue straight ahead. At the next roundabout take the third
exit and immediately turn sharp left into the housing scheme.
Follow the road for about 200 yards and take the first left you
can now see the Ice Bowl on your right hand side.

FROM THE
SOUTH.
Exit the M74 at Gretna and follow directions to
Dumfries/Stranraer you are now on the A75. Approaching Dumfries
you encounter the first roundabout (little Chef to left hand
side), here you take the second exit (signposted Stranraer A75),
you are now on the Dumfries bypass. At the second and third
roundabouts head straight on following the Stranraer A75
signposts. At the fourth roundabout take the second exit (the
first is an entry to a retail park), signposted Dumfries. The
road then crosses a disused railway and brings you to a mini
roundabout outside Tesco where you continue straight ahead. At
the next roundabout take the third exit and immediately turn
sharp left into the housing scheme. Follow the road for about
200 yards and take the first left you can now see the Ice Bowl
on your right hand side.

FROM
KILMARNOCK.
Follow the A76 south until you enter the town. Head straight
through the first mini roundabout and at the next take the third
exit, signposted Dumfries. The road then crosses a disused
railway and brings you to a mini roundabout outside Tesco where
you continue straight ahead. At the next roundabout take the
third exit and immediately turn sharp left into the housing
scheme. Follow the road for about 200 yards and take the first
left you can now see the Ice Bowl on your right hand side.

FROM
STRANRAER.
Follow the A75 to Dumfries. Arriving at the outskirts of
Dumfries join the bypass and follow signs for Carlisle A75 at
the first roundabout. At the second roundabout take the fourth
exit, signposted Dumfries. The road then crosses a disused
railway and brings you to a mini roundabout outside Tesco where
you continue straight ahead. At the next roundabout take the
third exit and immediately turn sharp left into the housing
scheme. Follow the road for about 200 yards and take the first
left you can now see the Ice Bowl on your right hand side.

BY BUS.
All busses from "out of town" will either terminate or pass
along the Whitesands (see map below). After alighting from the
bus head up to the traffic lights at the top of the Whitesands
and turn left onto Buccleuch Street Bridge. On the far side of
the bridge cross the road at the traffic lights and join Glasgow
Street (dual carriageway) and then take the first left onto
David Street. Take the first right onto King Street and you will
see the Ice Bowl approximately two hundred yards along the road
beside the football ground. PLEASE NOTE: This is the red marker

BY TRAIN.
From Dumfries Railway Station pass the right-hand side of the
Station Hotel and turn left onto Lovers Walk and proceed to the
traffic lights at the junction with Edinburgh Road. Turn left
and follow the road into Dumfries town centre past Dumfries
Academy (once attended by John Laurie and J M Barrie). Follow
the main road past Burns Statue and on down Buccleuch Street on
the left as you approach the traffic light you will see Cavens
Arms which is highly recommended for both real food and real
ales. Pass straight through the traffic light and cross
Buccleuch Street bridge. On the far side of the bridge cross the
road at the traffic lights and join Glasgow Street (dual
carriageway) and then take the first left onto David Street.
Take the first right onto King Street and you will see the Ice
Bowl approximately two hundred yards along the road beside the
