On
Saturday evening the Border Utility sponsored Solway Sharks were
in Braehead to meet the Paisley Pirates in their penultimate
Northern League fixture but suffered a disappointing defeat.
Mark Gallagher opened the scoring for the Sharks with a
powerplay goal on the 03:36 mark with Alan Crane getting an
assist on the play. But the Pirates fought back in the second
period and levelled the scores on the 30:57 mark through Orr
with assists coming from Fowley and Wallace. Unfortunately for
the Sharks the Pirates scored the winning goal through McCamley
(assisted by Wilson and McCaig) with just under two minutes left
on the clock. Dewar Anderson had a fine evening in the Sharks
goal and saved forty-six of the forty-eight shots that he faced
for a save percentage of 95.83%. This result now means that the
Sharks will finish fourth in the Northern League table and play
the Fife Flyers at the play off weekend on Saturday the 19th of
April at the Fife Ice Arena, Kirkcaldy, face-off is at 7:30pm.
