The
Solway Sharks, sponsored by the Black Bull of Moffat, got back
to winning ways on Saturday night with a hard-fought six-four
victory over the new and improved Dundee Tigers.
Against the Tigers, the high-scoring combination of Kevin Conway
and Bari McKenzie connected for five goals to lead the home team
to two valuable Scottish National League points.
The game remained a close encounter throughout and the Sharks
needed two third period goals to seal a hard-fought but
well-deserved victory.
The match sponsors for the game were Sulwath
Brewers of Castle Douglas and the man-of-the-match award for the
Sharks went to Alan Crane (pictured above).
The Solway Sharks match statistics were as
follows: Kevin Conway three goals and one assist, Bari McKenzie 2+2,
John Downes 1+0,
Chris Gracie and Neal Haworth both 0+2, Euan Edgar, Mark Gallagher,
Gordon Horne, and
Wayne Slater all 0+1. Sharks netminder Scott McMeeken saved twenty-seven
of the thirty-one shots he faced (Save percentage 87.10%).
