The Solway
Sharks, sponsored by the Black Bull of Moffat, won arguably
their biggest match in club history last weekend as they
disposed of the high-flying Dundee Stars.
Bari McKenzie
(pictured left) fired home three goals and assisted one other as the Sharks
romped home 8-3.
Gordon Horne,
Cammy Currie, Mark Gallagher, Bobby Chalmers, and Terry
Robertson also scored as the Sharks moved four points clear of
the Stars in second place of the Northern League table.
The game was
close all the way through until the third and final period when
the Sharks struck four times in four minutes to kill off the
Stars to become only the second team, other then Fife Flyers, to
beat the Taysiders in over two seasons.
Sharks coach
Kevin Doherty said this about the contest: “Every single player
did his part in this victory. Our men were faster, hungrier, and
stronger in all areas of the ice.
“We did not give
the Stars any time to get their offence going as we pressured
them all night long. We need to try and replicate that effort
each and every game.”
