The Black Bull
of Moffat sponsored Solway Sharks got their SNL campaign off to
positive start by winning twice within 24 hours.
On Saturday, in
front of a bumper opening night crowd at the Ice Bowl, the North
Ayr Bruins provided the opposition as the Sharks skated out 11-1
winners. Sunday saw the Dumfries side travel to the Capital and
beat a strong Edinburgh team 6-5 in an exciting contest.
Bob Chalmers
opened the scoring just over a minute into the Bruins encounter
with his first of five goals on the evening and the Sharks never
looked back. Ross Edgar (pictured above), Raymond Haslam, Bari McKenzie, Euan
Edgar, Tim McKay, and Alan Crane all added single tallies as
Solway had 66 attempts on goal. Scott McMeeken and Chris McKay
faced 25 shots from the Ayr attack in the Sharks goal.
Margaret
Hughes, from the Black Bull, presented Chalmers with the
man-of-the-match.
