Ice DJ's
Musical Review Of 2007.
2007
was another year for good music, some new artists and old
groups getting back together.
Everyone will have there own taste and views on some of the
music going about in 2007 and these are just my views on who
and what I thought were good in 2007.
A few bands got back together
in the past year as in bands like Boyzone and of course the
Spice Girls but the 2/3 biggest bands that got back together
were the Eagles, Led Zepplin and "the Boss" Bruce
Springsteen was back with his E Street Band with there first
studio album together in 5 years.
The Eagles released a brand new album which I
haven’t heard yet but the first single of the album was a
good song called “How Long” and show’s that they haven’t
lost any of the old magic. Led Zepplin released a greatest
hits album which is a must for any music collection young or
old.
Bon Jovi released a good new album “Lost Highway” and I’m
looking forward to seeing them at Hampden Park in June 2008.
To pick a song of the album it has to be the power ballad
“(You Want To) Make A Memory” a class song.
Other top tunes for me this year were Santana
featuring Chad Kroeger with “Into The Night”, Nickelback
with “Rockstar”, Travis had a cracker of a song with
“Selfish Jean”, Orson had a good upbeat track with “Ain’t No
Party, Hoosiers with “Worried About Ray”, Craig David was
back with “Hot Stuff” and the Foo Fighters were also back
with “Long Road To Ruin”, probably the biggest song of 2007
not to make number 1 was Mark Ronson featuring Amy Winehouse
with the remake of the song “Valerie” first released by the
Zutons in 2006.
Mika took the charts by storm with a couple
of cracking tunes in “Grace Kelly” and “Big Girls”.
The dance remix hit of the year for me was “Sexual Healing”
by Alibi featuring Rockerfella. There were also a few new
bands/artists that got my feet tapping this year one of
which was singer songwriter Amy MacDonald who had 4 hits and
very hard to choose the best one but the song “This Is The
Life” just shades it for me. Local guy Calvin Haris from
Dumfries had a good year and looks to have a bright future
in the music industry.
The View had a couple of good hits with the
pick of them being the song “Same Jeans”.
The band that really got my feet tapping this year was the
Reverend And The Makers the song “He Said He Loved Me” is
brill and the windows in my car bounce anytime its on as the
volume gets cranked up but that also has to be said about
the album “State Of Things” apart from one song that I’m not
to keen on.
The only thing missing from 2007 was a big
party tune that you do a silly dance to but I’m sure someone
will make up for that in 2008.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my look back
at some of the music and artists from 2007 and I’m already
looking forward to 2008 for more great music.
